Fishpathogens Database

A platform for sharing information on fish pathogens isolates and their sequences.

Facilitating Research

We encourage laboratories from around the world to submit data for fish pathogens isolated in their laboratory.

As much isolate information as possible should be included, as well as genetic information if the isolate has been sequenced.

It is not a requirement for upload to the database that the isolate has been sequenced.

History and Funding

The database was launched in Spring 2009 with a database on Viral Haemorrhagic Septicaemia Virus (VHSV) (Jonstrup et al. 2009). One year later it was extended with a database on Infectious Haematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHNV) (Jonstrup et al. 2010). Currently development of databases on Spring Vraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV), Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus (ISAV), and Koi Herpes Virus (KHV) are in progress.

The work is funded through FP6-2004-Food-3-A project EPIZONE and the European Commission financial aid for running the European Union Reference Laboratory for Fish Diseases. The database is maintained by the European Union Reference Laboratory for Fish Diseases and suggestions for improvements and questions are welcome on info@fishpathogens.eu.
